Like many athletes, pets often tear their cranial or anterior cruciate ligament (ACL). Surgery is often recommended to replaced the mechanical function of the torn ligament. A walking cart may be of limited value for rehabilitation when both knees or "stifles" are repaired surgically at the same time. Successful surgical outcome is greatly enhanced in these cases because protection of the surgical repair is aided by a Two-wheeled K9 Cart.
Luxating patellas or "trick knees" may require surgical repair. Again, a K9 Cart is seldom needed unless both knees are operated on at the same time. ACL and luxating patella repairs on a single leg may benefit from a handheld sling or K9 EZ Sling during the immediate post-operative rehabilitation period. Please consult your veterinarian and/or rehab specialist. |
