| Most spinal tumors fall into two categories - malignant or benign - sometimes referred to as cancerous and non-cancerous. Both types, when expansive, will show symptoms similar to disc pain followed by a gradual loss of function.
Non-expansive tumors are usually malignant, and treatment is limited to pallative radiation and/or chemotherapy depending on the type.
K9 Carts will be helpful in benigh tumors that are amenable to surgery, which involves removing the tumor from the spinal cord cover or "dura mater." If the tumor causes pressure on the cord or surgery injures the cord, front, rear, or 4-wheeled carts may be used depending on the affected region of the spine. |
